Saturday night Canada was closed. Basically.
The Tragically Hip (“The Hip”), a well known Canadian band, held the final concert of their final tour in their hometown. Almost all of Canada watched, cost to cost, tears in our eyes thanks to CBC TV ( Canadian broadcast television). Cities held showings of it in their parks. People watched together at home and online. We all held The Hip in our hearts in a giant national Canadian group hug. No, this isn’t how Canada celebrates every Canadian band’s final concert, but this one was special.
After watching Pitch Perfect for probably the 100th time with my 14 year old I finally decided to introduce him to The Breakfast Club movie. Of course some of the concept was a bit hard for him to get since cliques like that aren’t part of his school experience. These days it seems like many schools have freaks, geeks and prom queens all being friends with each other. A scene right out of the twilight zone for us 80s & 90s teens.
Today’s Music Monday choice is, of course, Don’t You Forget About Me set to scenes from The Breakfast Club!
I forgot how much I adored the “Brat Pack” I see more of their movies in the near future.
