Hey! I’m Vanessa, thirty something mom, from Canada. I was born in Toronto, On, but have lived in London,Ontario since mid 2004. I’m still a Toronto girl at heart. I’m kind of a crunchy-ish mama, but not completely. My friends have coined the phrase “chewy” (because we’re sort of crunchy, but not like all organic, straight up crunchy mamas). I think the term works perfectly. I have had both hospital, and home births. I’ve had Obs and Midwives. I breastfeed, I’ve done jarred, homemade and baby led weaning for solids, My kids eat organics and macdonalds. #NoShame. I’m a cloth diaper convert after using disposables with my first 2. We room share, and the kids eventually do leave the room and sleep through the night (I promise!) We use the public school system, but I’m also homeschooling our eldest. I’m not in to mom shaming or judging. There’s no shame in doing what works for your family. I’m also a mom who lives with mental health, so some days are harder than others, but I have an amazing support system that helps get me through.I like to spend my free time taking pictures, and making digital designs (subway art, nursery art, chalkboard posters, and bloggy sidebar art) You can contact me if you’d like something made for you 🙂
In March 2000 I met this crazy guy. He was so not my type, we’re actually complete opposites, but in the way that puzzle pieces are opposite. We fit. We are each other’s exact opposite, his strengths are my weaknesses and mine are his. We’re perfectly imperfect, and I really wouldn’t change it for anything or anyone. (Sorry Johnny Depp, I still adore you)
We’ve been writing an amazing love story ever since we met.
Our story includes these five amazing little people, who are my every day chaos…
C: Our eldest son born 09/26/2001 (his birth story)
Mister: Our 2nd born (sept.29/2004) – unplanned home birth (his birth story)
Blue is the baby boy, born 01/26/2007 -(his birth story)
Lady Girl, born 12/14/08 @ home (her birth story)
Little Miss born 7/15/2014 @home (quickly, caught by daddy: her birth story)
I started blogging as a way to connect with other moms, and to just have space that was mine. I think that sometimes parents get lost in the parenting world and forget to have our own identity. We’re always someone’s mom/dad, someone’s wife/husband, and we either forget to have our own self, or we feel selfish for thinking or wanting that. This blog started as a way for me to have that. Even though I’ve had this blog for a few years, I’m just really getting my feet wet and finding my blogging flow, so to speak, so I make changes to my blog as they fit. I don’t know that I have a specific genre of blog, but I identify as a “mommy blogger” I occasionally do reviews, though they are not an every day thing on this blog. If you would like to contact me for a product (including book) review, please feel free!
I hope that as you are peeking through the blog you find something worth staying for. Please feel free to jump in and comment. I really like to interact with my fellow bloggy types, and my readers. 🙂
